خَلَقَ,
عَلِمَ,
نَفُسَ,

Praise for Him, Who has created the pairs in all that you grow from the earth, their own selves, and (also) from (things) what they do not know. (Note. A fruit results from the maturation of one or more flowers, and the gynoecium of the flower(s) forms all or part of the fruit. Inside the ovary/ovaries are one or more ovules where the megagametophyte contains the egg cell. After double fertilization, these ovules will become seeds. The ovules are fertilized in a process that starts with pollination, which involves pollen from the stamens to the stigma of flowers. After pollination, a tube grows from the pollen through the stigma into the ovary to the ovule, and two sperm are transferred from the pollen to the megagametophyte. Within the megagametophyte, one of the two sperm unites with the egg, forming a zygote. The second sperm enters the central cell forming the endosperm mother cell, which completes the double fertilization process. Later the zygote will give rise to the seed's embryo, and the endosperm mother cell will give rise to endosperm, a nutritive tissue used by the embryo. As the ovules develop into seeds, the ovary begins to ripen, and the ovary wall, the pericarp, may become fleshy (as in berries or drupes) or form a hard outer covering (as in nuts). In some multi seeded fruits, the extent to which the flesh develops is proportional to the number of fertilized ovules. The pericarp is often differentiated into two or three distinct layers called the exocarp (outer layer, also called epicarp), mesocarp (middle layer), and endocarp (inner layer). In some fruits, straightforward fruits derived from an inferior ovary, other parts of the flower (such as the floral tube, including the petals, sepals, and stamens) fuse with the ovary and ripen with it. In other cases, the flower's sepals, petals, and/or stamens and style fall off. When such other floral parts are a significant part of the fruit, it is called an accessory. Since other parts of the flower may contribute to the structure of the fruit, it is important to study flower structure to understand how a particular fruit forms. Ref. Wikipedia).

Hi,Please add a user manual.

Response:

Assalam-u-Alakum Tanzib, I would like to thank you for recommending the user manual. Please find below the instructions on how to use the "rootwordsofquran" website: Step 1: Click on the root words displayed on the right side of the Ayats. A summary of a few meanings will be provided. Step 2: Click "Follow the link for reference on the Dictionary page." This will take you to the pages of the dictionary for the words. For advanced search options, highlight and copy the root word, then right-click and select "Search Google for." You can use Wiktionary, PONS translations, or other websites and paste the root word for search. For a more detailed analysis, you can refer to Lane's Lexicon (quranic-research.net). To search other websites for the Ayats, highlight the entire Ayat and right-click to search Google for other websites. I hope the above instructions are helpful. May Allah (SWT) reward you for your efforts. JazakAllah Khair. (ًجزاك اللهُ خيرا)

As salamu alaikum. Based on my research and understanding, I believe that the root words for يَحُورَ are ح - ا- ر which can be used to imply "returned", "change from a good state to a bad state", "decrease", "confusion".This maybe a wrong observation. Please look into it and guide me. JazakAllah.

Response:

Walakum As salam. Inaaya According to the dictionary, there are many translations of the root word for يَحُورَ, ح - ا- ر,حَارَ including to return, to be reduced, white, and alley, etc., with other meanings of other morphed forms that are available by clicking on the link of dictionary Page # 176 of the word حَارَ. The translations follow the meanings of the dictionary. In the translation for the Surah No. 84--الإنشِقاق--Splitting Open --.Ayat No 14 is translated as "to return," and it is the correct translation. Let us know of a particular Ayat in your references. I hope it answers your inquiry. May Allah (SWT) reward you for your efforts. JazakAllah Khair.

Great work done here may Allah SWT accept this endeavour and increase you and your team in knowledge, just a couple of inputs, one the dictionary you have used gives many example of words and example outside of the Quran Vocubalary, can you attach some good lexicon of Quranic arabic, second is it possible to show the dictionary page a copy able text so people can use it for their personal research. Again good work, please continue the development. Jazak Allahu Khair

Response:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Kamran Shaikh, Thank you for your valuable advice on adding a Quranic Lexicon to increase the understanding of the Quran. This task would require a team of scholars to research the historical context and include the latest scientific proofs to explain the definitions and meanings backed by research references. We have already included a few references, such as the supernova explosion with the plasma jet stream in Surah Tariq. We invite interested audiences with expertise in the scientific community to establish a committee and work together to publish a Qur'anic Lexicon to improve our understanding of the Al-Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who received the Glorious Al-Quran. We are grateful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala for this blessing and strive to understand His message and seek His forgiveness. We appreciate your encouraging comments. Kindly inform us of any errors or suggestions for improvements. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. جزاك اللهُ خير Jazaka Allahu Khairan: May Allah reward you with good.

Assalamu alaikum , may I know root letter for اتقوا thank you

Response:

Assalamualaikum, Thank you for your inquiry. I have used the root for اتقوا as تَقَى; however, وَقَى, has the same meaning when used as a verb. If we use, “those who are afraid of Allah”, we can use وَقَى, as root words. If we use “those who are devout, and pious”, then we can use تَقَى, as the root word. AoA. Thank you for compiling the roots in one place. Barak Allahu Feek! In looking at some of the root words you show, some are different that what other sources say. As an example for 1:5, the word الصِّرَاطَ is generally tied to the root صِرَط, but you are showing صِرَاط. There are several others that do not match with typical conventions. I don't know Arabic at all, let alone what roots are 'true'. Just humbly requesting if you can share what specific source do you follow to list the roots? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated, and will help me align my understanding of the various ways of looking at the Quranic text, iA. Thank you again for the great work you have initiated. SA

Response:

Walakum Assalam, Fahad, Appreciate your comment. The root words are normally listed in separate alphabets, but the reader of the Quran will not easily identify the words of Quranic Ayats. The Dictionary of the Modern Literary Language Compiled and Arranged by MAAN ZULFI MADINA shows the root word most closely listed in written forms. Checking in the dictionary on pp-371, the word used is صِرَاط with the meanings of way and path. The word for ارض is shown as أَرَض. The word wrapping sometimes becomes a problem in the data and should be ارض. There are a few words that will be updated to be the same as shown in the dictionary. We will keep updating the root words as shown in the dictionary. Originally the work was developed in excel with the link function and find function of root words in the Quran. Now we have used SQL to upload the files. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan: ًجزاك اللهُ خيرا “May Allah reward you with good.”

The root word Maalik in "مَـالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ" is given as Malak. Meanings are given as "Angel, Acquire , Take , Possession , Property , wealth , state , Government , Royalty , State , Civilian". Please let me know where I am missing the link.

Response:

Assalam U Alaikum, Asifuddin We appreciate your comment. Words in Each Ayat of the Quran are linked to the pages of the Dictionary. Just click on the root word next to Ayat and the dictionary page will open, where meanings are provided. Please follow the meanings provided in the dictionary. • Follow the link for reference Dictionary page. مَلَكَ The dictionary shows the meanings Ruling, Possessing, Owner, Holder and includes King and Sovereign words. Approximate contextual meanings are provided in the translation. Hope this answers your question. Arabic grammar and root words are same?

Response:

Assalam u Alaikum We appreciate your comment. In order to use the dictionaries, the words are arranged according to roots. Arabic words are listed under their roots. The knowledge of Arabic Sarf (Morphology) and Nahw (Syntax) is required to understand the meaning. Please read the pp ix of the dictionary, ( ARRANGEMENT AND SEQUENCE OF ENTRIES). Qaisrani 10/11/2021 11:05:09 PM
Dear Admin, you have written صدق الله العظيم as part of every sorah and even given it an ayat number while it is not part of the Quran. The Holy Quran does not have this verse and there is no example of writing these words in the Quran so please remove this as it is a kind of tehreef.JazakAllah

Response:

Assalam u Alakum Qaisrani, We appreciate your comment. The line صدق الله العظيم, ALLAH HAS SPOKEN THE GREATEST TRUTH, was added to be read after the recitation of Al-Quran as a regular practice. We agree with your comment that these lines are not part of Al-Quran and should not number as a continuation of Ayats. We will remove these lines on the next upgrade. It has become part of the database at present, and for now, we will add clarifications to these lines. Please let us know if you find any other mistakes for corrections or provide us with your suggestions for improvements. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Its a stunning work. i am learning arabic and deeply interested to speak fluently. If you can provide the linking pages as text reference, will be a great boon for us. through that we can also search for any words that appear in texts and refer back to the root. it is also the reverse way. But now the linked dictionary pages are in pdf or image only ref. But thanks very much for this wonderful work. Ifyou can make a tool out of it..we can contribute to it as i know time is spent very much on it.

Response:

Assalamu’alaikum Babu, It is our blessing from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, that He sent us His Great Messenger, Prophet Muhammad Salla Allahu hu Alaihi Wassalam, with Quran. It is Guidance for our lives. We must understand, each word of Quran, and ask for His guidance, Forgiveness and Acceptance. We thank you for your comments of encouragement. We want to keep the dictionary in original format, and the great work done by author Maan Zulfi Madina and Columbia University. We do have plan to digitize the dictionary later if the permission is granted. Please continue to use the website and send us recommendations. Please share the website with others. Jazakallah

Salam - For the last 10 years I have been searching for a similar tool that can connect the Quranic ayats with their root words. This is a revolutionary tool that truly fulfils the gap in understanding that existed between the meaning and spirt of each ayat. After gaining this deeper level of understanding the process of reading quran becomes a process which is a dialogue between your soul and Allah. Now i understand why this message was such a transformational tool in the lives of sahaba since they understood the root meaning of quranic ayats. I feel like this is the need of the hour and this tool will truly helps us in establishing and connecting back to our true ibrahimic roots. I would like to send my deepest gratitude to team behind this master piece.May the ummah benefit from this revolutionary tool.

Response:

Walakum Assalam, Waleed, We received the Message of Al-Quran from Prophet Muhammad Salla-Allahu Alayhi Wasallam, and this is our blessing in our life, and to Thank Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. All we can do is to try understanding His Message and ask for His Forgiveness. Your comments were encouraging; we are working on the next phase of update where we will add few more words and few corrections, along with links of dictionary pages enabled, just by hovering over the Ayats. Please let us know if you find any mistakes for corrections or provide us with your suggestions for improvements. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. JAK.
