||
||
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
1 |
|
Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Clear (Plain, Evident) Book.
2 |
|
Indeed, We have revealed it as an Arabic Quran (reading in the Arabic language) so perhaps you will understand.
3 |
|
We convey to you the finest of narratives through Our revelation in this Quran. Although, before this (Quran), you were among those who did not know.
4 |
|
Yousuf said to his father, “O my father, I saw in the dream eleven stars, and the sun, and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me.”
5 |
|
He said, “O my son, do not tell your dream to your brothers, then they will intrigue (plot) a conspiracy against you. Indeed, the shaitan is a clear enemy of humankind.
6 |
|
And that is how your Rabb will hear your prayers, teach you the interpretation of the events (conversations, reports), and complete His favors on you and the progeny of Yakub, as He completed (favors) before on your forefathers, Ibrahim, and Ishaq. Indeed, your Rabb is All-Knowing, All-Wise.”
7 |
|
Indeed, there is a sign in (narrations of) Yousef and his brothers for inquisitive (inquiring) people.
8 |
|
When they said, “Yousuf and his brother, our father loves them more than us, and we are the team (a band together). Truly our father is clearly lost.”
9 |
|
“Kill Yousef or throw him away in the land, (then) your father will be free (only) for you to give his full attention. And then after that, you (can) become righteous people.”
10 |
|
A speaker among them said, “Do not kill Yousuf, but throw him in the bottom of a pit; he will get picked up by some travelers if you want to be practical.”
11 |
|
They said, “O our father, what is with you that you do not trust us with Yousuf, although we have sincere intentions for him?”
12 |
|
“Send him with us tomorrow, so he may indulge freely and play; Indeed, we will protect him.”
13 |
|
He said, “I will surely be grieved if you slip away from him. And I fear the wolf will eat him while you are inattentive to him.”
14 |
|
They said, “If the wolf will eat him while we are a team (band, group), then we will be the losers.”
15 |
|
So, they left with him and got together to put him in the bottom of the well. And We inspired him (Yousuf), “You will inform them (later) this matter, and they are not realizing (now).”
16 |
|
And they came to their father in the evening crying (weeping).
17 |
|
They said, “O our father, we went for a race and left Yousuf near our possessions; then a wolf ate him. And but you will not believe us, even though we are truthful.”
18 |
|
And they came with his shirt with false blood. He said, "But you have enticed (tempted) yourself (something about) this matter. (But) I will have graceful patience and call upon Allah for help regarding how you describe (depict things)".
19 |
|
And a caravan of travelers came by, and they sent their watering man, and he hung down a bucket for their water supply, said, “O, what good news. here is a boy.” And they hid him as merchandise, and (but) Allah is All-Knowing with what they were doing.
20 |
|
And they sold him with a little value of a few counted coins and considered abandoning him.
21 |
|
And the one who bought him in Misr said to his wife, “Treat him with honor as a guest; hope that he will be beneficial for us, or we may make him a son.” That is how We established Yousuf in the country, for Us to teach him the interpretations of the incidents. And Allah is Dominant in His Affairs, but many of humankind do not know.
22 |
|
When he reached his full maturity, We granted him wisdom and knowledge. That is how We reward the good-doers (beneficent).
23 |
|
And she, in whose house he was in, tried to seduce him from himself (for herself). She locked the doors and said, “Come here.” He said, “(I seek the) Sanctuary of Allah. Indeed, he (the house owner) is my master and provided me with a better place to stay. Indeed, unjust do not benefit.”
24 |
|
And indeed, she intended for him, and he intended for her, had he not seen evidence from his Rabb. That is how We surely turn away, evil and fornication from him. He was among our devoted worshippers.
25 |
|
They both proceeded to the door, and she tore off his shirt from behind. (Then) Both met her master at the door. She said, “What is the penalty for him who desires your wife for evil? Except (that) he should be put in prison or given a painful punishment?
26 |
|
He (Yousuf) said, “She tempted to seduce me to yield (to her) from myself.” And testified a witness from her family: “If his shirt was cut off (torn) from the front, then she is truthful, and he is from the liars.
27 |
|
And (But) if his shirt is cut off (torn) from behind, then she lied, and he is from the truthful.”
28 |
|
And when he (Aziz) saw his (Yusuf’s) shirt cut off (torn) from behind, he (Aziz) said, “It is your enticement (O women, it is your plotting) and your enticement (plotting) is great (serious).”
29 |
|
“O Yousuf, avoid this (turn away from this). And (you wife), ask forgiveness of your sin, for you are at fault.”
30 |
|
And women of the town said, “The wife of Aziz wanted to seduce her young (slave boy) to yield himself (for her). She is infatuated with love (extremely in love with Yousuf). Surely we see her in a clear falsehood.”
31 |
|
And when she heard their plots, she sent an invitation to them and prepared cushions for them and gave every one of them a knife (maybe to cut fruits). And she said (to Yousuf), “Come out to them.” Then, when they saw him, he appeared intolerable, and they cut their hands. And they said, “Hold back for Allah; he is not a human, but only a noble angel.”
32 |
|
She said, “So, that is what you blamed me for. And I did try to seduce him to yield, but he protected himself. And if he would not do what I ordered, he will be in jail and among the contempt.”
33 |
|
He said, “O my Rabb, the prison is preferable to me than what they invite me to. And if You do not turn them away from me with their enticement, I may consent towards them, and then I will be from the ignorant.”
34 |
|
Then his Rabb granted him (his request) and turned away their enticement from him. Indeed, He is the All-Listener, the All-Knowing.
35 |
|
Then, after they saw the signs, it appeared to them to imprison him for a while.
36 |
|
And two young men entered the prison with him. One said, “I had a dream (that) I am squeezing wine.” The other said, “I had a dream (that) I am carrying bread on my head, from which the birds are eating.” “Inform us the interpretation of these (dreams); we see you as among the beneficent.”
37 |
|
He said, “No meals will come to you for your sustenance, except (that) you both will be informed before, with the interpretation of these (dreams). That is what my Rabb has taught me. Indeed, I have abandoned the group (nation of Aziz) that does not believe in Allah and the Hereafter; as they are nonbelievers.
38 |
|
And I follow the religion of my forefathers, Ibrahim, Isak, and Yaqoob. It is not for us to make partners with Allah in anything. That is from the favors of Allah on us and humankind, but many humans do not thank Him.
39 |
|
“O, my companions of the prison, are different gods better, or Allah, the One, the Almighty?”
40 |
|
“What you worship other than Him, except the names that you have assigned you and your forefathers (you worship other than Allah are only names that you and your forefathers assigned) for which Allah has not sent down the power of authority. The power is only for Allah. I am ordered to worship just (Only) Him. That is the right base (to stand firm) in faith, but many humans do not know.”
41 |
|
“O, my companions of the prison! One of you will provide drink to his master; for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will eat from his head. Thus, settled the matter you have been asking me about.”
42 |
|
And he (Yousuf) told him whom he considered would be saved among them. But the Shaitan made him forget to mention it to his master, so he (Yousuf) stayed in prison for a few (more) years. [(Note. The inmate forgot to mention the case of Yousuf to the king, and later when the King asked for help in interpreting the dream, the inmate mentioned the name of Yousuf to the King at the right time when the king required help. If the inmate had mentioned Yousuf's name before, King may not have responded as there was no need to listen to the case of Yousuf)].
43 |
|
And the King said, “I saw in the dream seven fat cows being eaten by seven leans, and seven ears of green grain and the others dried up. O you, the chiefs, deliver an opinion to me about my dreams if you can interpret (explain) the dreams.”
44 |
|
They said, “Confusing dreams, we do not know how to interpret dreams.”
45 |
|
And the one who was saved from them, having remembered after a period, said, “I will inform you the interpretation, so send me out.”
46 |
|
“O Yousuf, the friend, give us your opinion concerning seven fat cows being eaten by seven leans, seven ears of green grain, and others dried up so I will return to the people so they may understand.
47 |
|
He said, “You will grow for seven years persistently. But when you harvest, leave them in ears of grains except for a few from that you eat.”
48 |
|
Then, after that will come seven severe (draught) years, which they will consume from what you have put forward for those (years) except for the few that you protected (in storage for) yourself.
49 |
|
Then after that will come yearly (rains). There will be abundant rain for the people, and they will extract juices.
50 |
|
And the king said, “Bring him to me about this (information).” Then when the messenger came, he (Yousuf) said, “Return to your master and ask him about (his intentions for) those women who cut their hands; Indeed, my Rabb has Full Knowledge about their enticement (plots).”
51 |
|
He (Aziz) said, “(o women) what was the matter with you when you tempted Yousuf (to yield) from himself?” They said, “Hold back, for Allah! we did not know of any evil in him.” The wife of Aziz said, “Now it has become clear the truth. I have tempted him from himself, and he was from the truthful.”
52 |
|
“(Yousuf said) that is (Aziz) to know genuinely that I have not betrayed in (his) absence, and that Allah does not guide (who is) deceitful (and) the disloyal.”
53 |
|
“And yet I do not absolve from blame myself. The self incites for the evil except whom my Rabb has Mercy. Indeed, My Rabb is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
54 |
|
And the king said, “Bring him to me about this; I want to choose him for myself.” And when he talked to him, he (Aziz) told him (Yousuf) honestly, “From this day, for us, you are a trustworthy resident.”
55 |
|
He (Yousuf) said, “Make me trusted treasurer of the land; I know (how) to protect.”
56 |
|
And that is how We strengthen Yousuf in the land, to settle down wherever he desires. We allot Our Mercy to whomever We Wish, and We do not waste the reward for the kind.
57 |
|
And the reward in the Hereafter is best for those who believe and are God-fearing.
58 |
|
And the brothers of Yousuf came, and they came to him. He recognized them, but they did not recognize him.
59 |
|
When he provided their supplies (merchandise), he (Yousuf) said, “Bring me your brother from your father. Do you not see that I fulfill the measure (scale), and I am good (as) the hosts?”
60 |
|
“Then (But) if you do not bring him to me, then there is no measure (of provisions) for you with me, and do not come close to me.”
61 |
|
They said, “We will explore this for him with his father. We will do it honestly”.
62 |
|
And he (Yousuf) said to his slave (worker), “Put their money of merchandise in their luggage; maybe they will recognize it when they return to their family, and perhaps they will return.”
63 |
|
When they returned to their father, they said, “O our father, we are being denied the (future) measure (supplies), so send us our brother, and we will get our measure (supplies). Indeed, for him, we will be the protectors.
64 |
|
He (Yaqoob) said, “Should I believe in you about him, as I trusted you about his brother before? Then Allah is the Best Protector and the Most Merciful of the Merciful.
65 |
|
And when they opened their luggage, they found their (price of) merchandise returned to them. They said, “O our father, what more do we desire? This is our (price of) merchandise returned to us and provisions for our family. We will protect our brother and (also) increase the measure (goods) of a camel (with returned money). That is an easy measure (deal).”
66 |
|
He (Yaqoob) said, “I will never send him with you until you give me a promise of Allah that surely you will bring him back to me unless you are surrounded.” And when they assured him, he said, “Allah is over what we say; He Is In Charge.”
67 |
|
And he said, “O my sons, do not enter through one gate, but enter from different gates (entries) (to avoid attention as a group of strangers). I cannot avail you against the will of Allah in anything. That the decision is only on Allah, upon Him, I put my trust, and upon Him is the trust of the trustees.”
68 |
|
And when they entered from where their father had instructed them, they could not gain anything against the will of Allah except (to fulfill) a plea of the soul of Yaqoob, which he carried out. He (Jacob) knew what We had taught him, but many of humankind do not understand.
69 |
|
And when they entered Yousuf's place, he accommodated his brother and said, "Honestly, I am your brother, so do not grieve on what they do."
70 |
|
Then, when they prepared their supplies, (Yousuf's men) put a water cup in the luggage of his (Yousuf's) brother. Then an announcer announced, "O you from the caravan, indeed, you are thieves."
71 |
|
They said as they came forward, “What are you missing?”
72 |
|
They said, “We are missing the cubic measure of the master. Whoever comes with it will get the (load) camel of supplies, and I guarantee it.”
73 |
|
They said, “By Allah, you know we did not come here to do corruption in the land, and we are not thieves.”
74 |
|
They said, “What is the punishment if you are liars?”
75 |
|
They said, “Punishment for him, in whose luggage it is found, he will belong to you. That is how we punish the unjust.
76 |
|
So, he began with their belongings before his brother's belongings. Then they took it out from the belongings of his brother. That is how We planned for Yousuf; he could not have taken his brother in the kingdom's laws (the law of the land) except what Allah wanted. We raise grades to whom We desire, and He is above everyone in knowledge (Allah is) All-Knowing.
77 |
|
They said, “If he steals, his brother has already stolen before.” But Yousuf hid the secret to himself and did not reveal it to them; he said (without revealing), “You are a deep-rooted evil, and Allah Knows better with what you portray.”
78 |
|
They said, “O you the Aziz (Yousuf as authority), his father is an old man, so, hold one of us in his place. We see you are among the kind (beneficent).”
79 |
|
He said, “Seek protection of Allah that we hold anyone except whom we found our possessions with him; then we would be unjust.”
80 |
|
And when they became hopeless of him, they secretly confided. The elder one among them said, “Do you not know that to your father we have already given an oath on Allah, and before that, what you have dealt excessively with Yousuf? I would never leave this land (earth) until I get permission from my father, or Allah decides for me, for He is the Best of the Judges.”
81 |
|
“Return to your father, then tell our father, ‘Your son has stolen. We have not witnessed, except with what we know, and we were not protectors in the absence.”
82 |
|
And “Ask the (people of) town that we were in, and the caravan, that came before us. And indeed, we are truthful.”
83 |
|
He (Yaqoob) said, “But you have talked yourself into this matter. I will keep graceful patience (will have hope) that Allah will bring them to me altogether. Indeed, He is All-Knowing and All Wisdom.”
84 |
|
And (then) he turned away from them and said, “O my grief (sorrow) on Yousuf,” And his eyes became white from the grief, and then he kept silent.
85 |
|
They said, “By Allah, do you continue to remember Joseph until you become (in grieve) a provocation or you become among the doomed.”
86 |
|
He said, “I only complain about my sorrow and grief to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.”
87 |
|
"O my sons, seek information for Yousuf and his brother and do not become hopeless from Allah's Generosity (mercy). None become hopeless from Allah's Generosity (mercy), except the nation of the nonbelievers."
88 |
|
Then, when they entered (to meet) him, they said, “O you the Aziz, harm has touched our family and us. We came (here) with a mixture of (a few) merchandise. So, (but) fill for us fully, and give us charity, Allah recompenses those who give charity.”
89 |
|
He said, “Do you know what you have done with Yousuf and his brother when you have been ignorant?”
90 |
|

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Kamran Shaikh, Thank you for your valuable advice on adding a Quranic Lexicon to increase the understanding of the Quran. We have already included a few references, such as the supernova explosion with the plasma jet stream in Surah Tariq. We invite interested audiences with expertise in the scientific community to establish a committee and work together to publish a Qur'anic Lexicon to improve our understanding of the Al-Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who received the Glorious Al-Quran. Walakum Assalam, Fahad, Appreciate your comment. The root words are normally listed in separate alphabets, but the reader of the Quran will not easily identify the words of Quranic Ayats. The Dictionary of the Modern Literary Language Compiled and Arranged by MAAN ZULFI MADINA shows the root word most closely listed in written forms. Checking in the dictionary on pp-371, the word used is صِرَاط with the meanings of way and path. The word for ارض is shown as أَرَض. The word wrapping sometimes becomes a problem in the data and should be ارض. There are a few words that will be updated to be the same as shown in the dictionary. We will keep updating the root words as shown in the dictionary. Originally the work was developed in excel with the link function and find function of root words in the Quran. Now we have used SQL to upload the files. May Allah Subhanahu Wa-Ta'ala reward you for your efforts. Jazaka Allahu Khairan: ًجزاك اللهُ خيرا “May Allah reward you with good.”Response:
