سورة القلم - 68 -

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate
1

ن وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ

قَلًمَ,
سَطَرَ,
Noon. By the pen and what is written down (record).
2

مَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ

نَعَمَ,
جَنَّ,
رَبَّ,
You are not possessed by the jinn due to blessings of your Rabb.
3

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ

مَنَّ,
أَجَرَ,
غير,
Indeed, for you there is reward with no prohibition.
4

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

حَلَقَ,
عَظُمَ,
عَلَا,
Indeed, You are highest amongst the great creation (mankind).
5

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ

بَصُرَ,
Then soon you will see (you are endowed with understanding) and they will see (they will realize).
6

بِأَييِّكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ

فَتَنَ,
أَيُّ,
Which among you is being charmed (who is wicked)?
7

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ

عَلِمَ,
سَبَلَ,
ضَلَّ,
هَدَى,
رَبَّ,
Indeed, Your Rabb is the One who knows who is lost from His Path and He is the One who knows who is among the guided.
8

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

طَاعَ,
كَذَبَ,
Then (O you The Prophet) do not follow the liars.
9

وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ

وَدَّ,
دَهَنَ,
لَوْ,
They would love if you deceive, so they would deceive.
10

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَّهِينٍ

مَهَنَ,
طَاعَ,
حَلَفَ,
كُلَّ,
And do not follow any (every) swearing despicable.
11

هَمَّازٍ مَّشَّاء بِنَمِيمٍ

هَمَزَ,
مَشَى,
نَمَى,
Walks (around) with advancing slandering (backbiting attributes).
12

مَنَّاعٍ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

خَيرَ,
أَثِمَ,
مَنَعَ,
عَتُدَ,
Prevents the good and ready to offend.
13

عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ زَنِيمٍ

عَتَلَ,
زَنَى,
ذَا,
بَعُدَ,
Carries after that low meanness.
14

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ

اِبْن,
مَال,
كَانَ,
That he is with wealth and sons.
15

إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

ا و ل,
آ ىي -آية,
قَالَ,
سَطَرَ,
تلو,
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, “fable myths of the ancients!”
16

سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ

سَمِي,
خُرْطُوم,
Soon, We will put the title on his nose.
17

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ

قَسَمَ,
صَبُحَ,
بلو,
جَنَّ,
صَحِبَ,
صَرُمَ,
إِذْ,
Indeed, We tested them like We tested the companions of the Gardens of Paradise, when they took the oath that we will cut (the harvest) in the morning.
18

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ

ثَنَى,
There will not be any exception.
19

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ

طَافَ,
عَلَا,
نَامَ,
Then (calamity) from your Rabb surrounded them while they were sleeping.
20

فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ

صَبُحَ,
صَرُمَ,
By the morning, (it became) as if it was cut off (in the past bygone).
21

فَتَنَادَوا مُصْبِحِينَ

نَدَا,
صَبُحَ,
Then (in the morning), they called to one another.
22

أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَى حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَارِمِينَ

حَرَثَ,
غَدَا,
صَرُمَ,
كَانَ,
“Go towards your cultivation, if you are going to cut.”
23

فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ

خَفَتَ,
طَلُقَ,
So they departed while they were silent.
24

أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ

دَخَلَ,
يَوْم,
مسكن,
That “No poor (needy) person should come over to you today.”
25

وَغَدَوْا عَلَى حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ

غَدَا,
حَرِدَ,
قَدَرَ,
And they went, in anger with determination.
26

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ

قَالَ,
رَأَى,
ضَلَّ,
Then (but) when they saw it, they said, “We are at loss.
27

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ

حَرُمَ,
We are deprived.”
28

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ

قَالَ,
سَبَحَ,
وَسَطَ,
لَوْ,
The mediator among them said, “Did I not tell you, ‘Why you do not glorify Allah?’”
29

قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ

قَالَ,
سَبَحَ,
ظَلَمَ,
رَبَّ,
كَانَ,
They said, “Praise be to our Rabb, we were among the unjust.”
30

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ

بَعَضَ,
قَبِلَ,
لَامَ,
Then they come up front to one another, blaming one another.
31

قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ

قَالَ,
وَيْل,
طَغَا,
كَانَ,
They said, “O disaster on us, we were surely cruel.
32

عَسَى رَبُّنَا أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ

خَيرَ,
عَسَى,
رَغِبَ,
إِلَى,
رَبَّ,
We hope for better exchange from our Rabb. To our Rabb we turn.”
33

كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ

عَلِمَ,
عَذُبَ,
كَبَرَ,
أخر,
ذَا,
كَانَ,
لَوْ,
This is the punishment; but the punishment of the Hereafter is bigger, if only they knew.
34

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ

نَعَمَ,
تَقَى,
عَنَدَ,
رَبَّ,
Indeed, for the God-fearing, there will be Blessed Gardens with their Rabb.
35

أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ

جَعَلَ,
جَرَمَ,
سَلِمَ,
Should We make the submissive Muslims like those who are unjust criminals?
36

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ

حَكَمَ,
كَيْفَ,
What is the matter with you? How do you do decree?
37

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ

كَتَبَ,
دَرَسَ,
Or is there any book with you that you study from.
38

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ

خَيرَ,
Indeed, for you therein whatever you choose?
39

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ

يَوْم,
بَلَغَ,
أَ مُنَ,
حَكَمَ,
قَامَ,
إِلَى,
Or is there a oath from Us, reaching up to the Day of Standing (throughout the time of this world), indeed, for you is (reward based on) whatever you decide?
40

سَلْهُم أَيُّهُم بِذَلِكَ زَعِيمٌ

زَعَمَ,
سَأَلَ,
ذَا,
أَيُّ,
Ask them who is among them with that are a guarantee.
41

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاء فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ

صَدَقَ,
شَرِكَ,
أَتَى,
كَانَ,
Or for them are there partners? Then bring their partners, if they are truthful.
42

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

يَوْم,
طَاعَ,
سَجَدَ,
دَعَا,
طَاعَ,
سَاقَ,
إِلَى,
كَشَفَ,
On the Day when they will be uncovered from heels, and they will be called upon to prostrate, but they will not be able to do so.
43

خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ

بَصُرَ,
سَجَدَ,
خَشَعَ,
دَعَا,
ذَلَّ,
رَهِقَ,
سَلِمَ,
كَانَ,
إِلَى,
Their eyes will be submissive, humiliation will take over them. They used to call upon prostration when they were safe and sound.
44

فَذَرْنِي وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

حَدَثَ,
عَلِمَ,
حَيْثُ,
كَذَبَ,
دَرَجَ,
ذّرّا,
So leave Me and whoever denies this information; We will slowly advance towards them (step by step), from where they would never know.
45

وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ

يَدَيَ,
مَلَا,
كَيدَ,
مَتُنَ,
And I give them respite (long time). My plan is strong.
46

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ

سَأَلَ,
أَجَرَ,
ثَقَلَ,
غَرِمَ,
Or do you ask them for a reward, so they are suffering from the burden?
47

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

كَتَبَ,
غَابَ,
عَنَدَ,
Or is there a (secret) invisible source, so they write it down?
48

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَى وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ

صَبَرَ,
حَكَمَ,
نَدَا,
صَحِبَ,
رَبَّ,
كَظَمَ,
إِذْ,
So be patient with the Decision of your Rabb, and do not be like the associates of the fish when he cried out in distress.
49

لَوْلَا أَن تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاء وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ

نَعَمَ,
نَبَذَ,
عَرِيَ,
ذَمَّ,
دَرَك,
لَوْ,
If it was not that he reached the comfort from his Rabb, he would have been thrown into the barren shore, while he was rebuked.
50

فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

جَعَلَ,
صَلَحَ,
جَابَ,
But his Rabb answered him, and He made him from the righteous.
51

وَإِن يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ

كَفَرَ,
قَالَ,
بَصُرَ,
جَنَّ,
ذَكّرَ,
كود,
سَمَعَ,
زَلِقَ,
Those who did not believe would have made you slip with their looks when they heard the remembrance, and they said, “He is possessed!”
52

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ

ذَكّرَ,
عَلِمَ,
But it is only the reminder for the Worlds.
53

صدق الله العظيم

صَدَقَ,
عَظُمَ,
ALLAH HAS SPOKEN THE GREATEST TRUTH
